Write a WhatsApp template

Draft a message and send it to Meta for approval, so you can message people outside the 24-hour window.
WhatsApp only lets you send free text within 24 hours of the customer's last message. After that, you can only send a template Meta has approved.
Start a template
Go to Settings, then WhatsApp, then Templates, and press New template.
Fill it in
- Template name, such as
site_visit_followup. It cannot change once Meta has it. - Owned by: the department that uses it.
- Category: utility for follow-ups, reminders and confirmations of something the contact started; marketing for offers and promotions. Meta reviews marketing hardest and requires an opt-out.
- Message body. Use
{{1}},{{2}}for the parts that change, and give each one a realistic sample value. Meta reviews the template against them. - Quick-reply buttons (optional): up to 10, each up to 25 characters, all different.
Submit it
Press Submit for approval, or Save draft to finish later. The template moves through Submitted and In review to Approved. If it is rejected, fix it and press Fix & resubmit.
An approved template cannot be edited. To change the wording, create a new one.
